Childcare for Parent Education Groups
Work with an experienced childcare person supervising and doing fun projects with infants to 12 year olds in our lobby while their parents are attending parenting classes. Crafts, coloring, holiday projects, rocking an infant, reading or helping with homework of older children are all part of this volunteer opportunity. Evening classes begin at 5:30 and end at 7. Daytime classes vary, but generally run from 10 to noon.
How do I qualify:
- Have a desire to work with children. Enjoy meeting new children and reading, talking, playing…
- A potential volunteer must be interviewed and complete a screening process (fingerprinting, DMV, referrals) before working with the children.
- 6 hours of training, including completion of an online child abuse reporting certificate required and provided by For The Child.
- Be available on a regular basis to provide childcare at one parenting class - more if you have time! Need to arrive 15 minutes prior to the beginning of the class.
